The Iconic Baltoro and Deva Packs Highlight Gregory’s Spring 2015 Lineup

For Spring 2015, Gregory will reintroduce its pinnacle backpacking products, the Baltoro and Deva. The brand will also debut the Stout and Amber packs, upgrade its successful trail running line, and bring the retro Sunbird line to the North American market.

Long considered the benchmark of fit and comfort for a large capacity pack, the Baltoro and Deva have been redesigned from the ground up to meet the needs of modern backpackers, providing the best fit and features for multiple days on the trail. Concurrently, the new Stout and Amber packs are designed to enable everything from hut-to-hut trekking to a quick night out under the stars with a new suspension and modern features at an accessible price point. Originally designed to eliminate slosh and bounce for ultra-distance and other serious endurance events, the Gregory trail running series has been updated to perform and fit even better. Long a hit in Asian markets such as Japan and South Korea, a selection of Gregory’s line of Sunbird products will hit North American and European retail shelves in Spring 2015.

“Spring 2015 represents a very important season for us,” states John Sears, director of product development at Gregory. “In addition to our redesigned logo, we are introducing significant updates or new products in four of our most important categories. The Baltoro and Deva have long been our premier packs and we considered every element of their redesign very carefully. The Stout and Amber were designed to appeal to the next generation of backpackers. Since our trail running line debuted we’ve heard nothing but positive reviews but with some very targeted refinements, the packs now fit even better. Last but not least, the Sunbird line brings a stylish, urban flair to the market that harkens back to original Gregory pack designs from a more simple era.”

The men’s Baltoro and women’s Deva feature the brand new Response A3 suspension. An Automatic Angle Adjust chassis keeps the packs comfortable and balanced by adapting to your body and maintaining your center of gravity throughout variable conditions. Two-position adjustable, independently pivoting shoulder harness and hipbelt panels, combined with a 7075 aluminum wishbone frame define the suspension. Additionally, a ventilated center of the back panel provides breathability and a removable foam pad provides adjustability to lumbar support. The pre-curved 3D shoulder harnesses and hipbelts feature an easy-change design for quickly finding the perfect custom fit.

The Baltoro is available in 85, 75, and 65 liter volumes while the Deva is available in 80, 70, and 60 liters. All of the bags include the Sidekick pack, an internal hydration reservoir compartment that doubles as an ultra-light removable daypack for summit bids or quick trips into town while on a thru-hike. Top-load design with large U-shaped zippers and a sleeping bag compartment with a drop shelf all provide ample access to the main compartment of the pack. A WeatherShield pocket on the hipbelt protects electronics from weather, as does the included color-matched raincover. The Baltoro 85 and Deva 80 will retail for $349 while the Baltoro 65 and Deva 60 will be $299.

Inspired by the advanced A3 suspension found in Gregory’s new Baltoro and Deva products, Gregory designed the TrailFlex suspension featured in the Stout and Amber to provide exceptional support without excess weight. The suspension channels the pack load onto the lumbar region for comfort while on the trail and pre-curved shoulder harness straps and adjustable hipbelts provide a customized fit. A spring steel frame and flexible back panel provide adjustability while preventing the pack from barreling. With Solar Ready™ attachment clips that are specially designed for solar panels, the men’s Stout is available in 75, 65, 45 and 35 liter volumes and the women’s Amber is available in 70, 60, 44, and 34 liters.

The larger Stout and Amber styles also include the Sidetrak daypack, a combination hydration reservoir sleeve and ultralight daypack. Dual oversized hipbelt pockets also provide plenty of room to bring along your favorite point-and shoot camera and trail snacks and have them easily accessible on the trail. U-Zip access opens the pack for easy packing and the included rain cover provides protection when a storm sneaks up on you. The Stout 75 and Amber 70 will retail for $219 while the Stout 35 and Amber 34 will be priced at $149.

The Tempo 8, 5 and 3 for men and the Pace 8, 5, and 3 for women all employ the patented Wraptor stabilizer technology for a gender-specific fit that eliminates pack bounce. Improved harness ergonomics to eliminate interference with arm swing and softer next-to-skin materials reduce chafe and irritation. Deeper and wider accessory pockets provide better access to electronics and a new hose management system using a magnetic harness clip improves hydration efficiency. A WeatherShield pocket also provides water and sweat protection for your mobile devices. The Tempo and Pace MSRPs range from $129 for the 8 liter packs to $49 for the lumbar packs.

The Sunbird series features classic materials such as premium quality cotton-polyester blends, steel alligator clips, and U.S. sourced chrome tanned leather for an aesthetic that is instantly recognizable. The three daypacks in the Sunbird series include the Kletter Day, the Trailblazer Day, and the Offshore Day - all practical bags that provide the storage you need for a day out. The Boardwalk Shoulder offers clean vintage styling and intuitive organization in a shoulder bag, and the Sunrise Tote is the ideal size for daily life. Prices range from $149 to $99.
