Outdoor, Music Industries Team Up to Support Big City Mountaineers
‘Beers for BCM’ at Liberty Bottleworks’ Booth at OR Boasts $10k+ Prize
YAKIMA, Wash. – January 14, 2013 – Jams will be right alongside jackets at Outdoor Retailer next week as the outdoor and music industries team up to support Big City Mountaineer’s mission to transform the lives of underserved youth through wilderness mentoring expeditions that instill critical life skills.
On Wednesday, Jan. 23, Liberty Bottleworks will host the third edition of “Beers for BCM,” an event to raise money for the Colorado-based charity at the semi-annual outdoor industry tradeshow, Outdoor Retailer. This year, in addition to a new Made-in-the-USA water bottle with limited edition BCM artwork, Liberty has coordinated a prize pack worth more than $10,000 to encourage generous giving to BCM.
“Last year we raised almost $4,000 in the Beers for BCM events at Summer and Winter Markets and had an incredible response from the outdoor industry to provide prizes and giveaways to encourage support for this incredible organization,” said Liberty co-founder Ryan Clark. “This year we wanted to leverage our connections in the music industry to create a unique prize pack that’s going to make somebody very happy next week.”
Outdoor Retailer attendees are invited to Booth #56008 beginning at 4:30 p.m. on the show’s opening day to enjoy a cold beer from Park City’s Shades of Pale Brewery served in a BCM edition Liberty Bottle for a minimum $5 donation. Each bottle will contain a ticket and at 5:45 p.m. a winner will be chosen for a prize pack that includes:
- VIP tickets for two to Festevol at Okemo Resort in Vermont, March 16, to see rock supergroup Yukon Cornelius and others.
- Lodging for two at Okemo Resort.
- Two lift tickets for two days at Okemo Resort.
- Lunch on the mountain with band members from Yukon Cornelius, which includes bassist Stefan Lessard from the Dave Matthews Band (the anchor member), singer/guitarist Ed Robertson of Barenaked Ladies, singer/guitarist Adam Gardner from Guster, and drummer Eric Fawcettfrom Spymob.
- A ski rack setup from Thule.
- Skis for two from RAMP.
- Poles for two from Soul Poles.
- An outerwear package for two from Helly Hanson.
“Our goal isn’t so much to raise a ton of money for BCM – though we want to do that – but to raise awareness for the amazing things this organization does for young people,” Clark said. “Come by, have a beer, learn more about BCM’s work and if you’re lucky, go on a helluva trip in March.”
