MSR® Launches New Wearables Collection

T-shirts, Tuques and Caps honor MSR’s 40 years standard-setting innovation

Seattle-based MSR® (Mountain Safety Research®) has been manufacturing high-performance outdoor equipment for the most demanding adventures since its inception in 1969. This month, MSR launches a new Wearables collection, which honors that heritage of innovation.

Made of 100% organic cotton, four of the collection’s T-shirts showcase the engineering drawing of one of MSR’s most groundbreaking products that represented a leap in technology, along with a story of its significance in outdoor innovation. Two more of the T’s are MSR branded shirts displaying the company’s enduring commitment to precision engineering and mountain safety across all categories.

The innovations featured on the product T’s include:

• The Model 9 Stove: the 1973 design of the world’s first remote-burner stove began as a quest to improve the performance of climbers at altitude. The legendary stove improved hydration through unprecedented performance in extreme conditions and forever changed how people travel in the mountains.

• The Thunderbird™ Ice Axe: MSR revolutionized ice axe performance and safety in 1970 by challenging the use of wooden shafts that routinely broke in the field. The Thunderbird axe introduced aircraft-grade aluminum shafts and a refined pick, launching a new era of ice axe design and mountaineering safety.

• The WaterWorks® MicroFilter: Designed in 1991, the WaterWorks MicroFilter was the first of its kind to combine both carbon and ceramic technologies into a single element, delivering standard-setting reliability and performance in portable, backcountry water treatment.

• The Lightning™ Snowshoe: In 2004, MSR’s Lightning frames radically altered snowshoe design, trading round tubes for a vertical wall of terrain-devouring aluminum. Today, the snowshoes still deliver an unrivaled level of traction for all snowshoers, with a distinct advantage on traverses and challenging terrain that has yet to be matched.

Also included in the Wearables collection are tuques and caps that keep the backcountry community covered both on and off the mountain, and feature a clean finish in classic MSR style.

The new MSR Wearables collection will debut in January at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City and T-shirts will be available at retail stores in February 2013.
