Louisville, CO ( June 29, 2016) – MILLET, the iconic French based manufacturer of technical outdoor apparel and equipment, is proud to announce the new Alpine Rush LTK – a high-performance trail runner, constructed with relative new-comers to the outdoor footwear market, Michelin technical soles and Matryx fabric, for the ultimate in comfort, traction, and breathability.

Designed specifically for long-distance running at high-mountain altitudes, the real “engine” of the Alpine Rush LTK is the MICHELIN Mont Blanc sole, developed by the designers of MICHELIN Technical Soles and MILLET’s footwear management team. The Mont Blanc Sole combines the advantages of the MICHELIN Cyclocross Mud 2 tire, designed specifically for cyclo-cross racing on extremely variable terrain that often features long muddy or very slippery stretches, with the performance of the motocross-derived MICHELIN M12 XC tire, which has a tread pattern with extra plies to tackle mixed and hard-packed ground. The result is an extremely reliable sole that guarantees safe, secure traction on all types of surfaces - everything from stony to dusty, and grassy to wet, rocky stretches.

With the entrance of MICHELIN, long known and appreciated for burly tire design, the technical sole market has seen the emergence of a new front-runner in the footwear world. MILLET’s commitment to selecting material partners who are continually innovating, brought the two companies together to develop The Alpine Rush LTK.

“This research project involved a whole slew of different factors,” explains Trond Sonnergren, head of designers at MICHELIN Technical Soles partner, JVI.“Trail running is a hugely complex discipline that spans a large variety of different terrain, often involving muddy or other on-the-limit conditions. But the MICHELIN Mont Blanc sole really does know its job in that regard”.

The Alpine Rush LTK’s upper is made from France’s Matryx, a new technical fabric made of nylon and Kevlar with a water-repellent PU treatment, ensuring that it both allows the foot to breathe and keep out moisture, while remaining impressively durable. The dual density EVA semi-oversize midsole provides an amazing ride while reducing fatigue and injuries with an excellent comfort on all types of grounds.

Says MILLET Brand Manager Fred Fages, “The Alpine Rush is a real turning point for MILLET because it brings the new Matryx technical fabric to high mountain altitudes. This lead to our decision to work with MICHELIN Technical Soles to guarantee innovation in both the upper and the sole to produce a running shoe that is genuinely leading-edge”.

Available for men and women, the Alpine Rush LTK makes its official world debut at the OutDoor International Trade Fair at Friedrichshafen in Germany, this coming July 13-16, and can be seen at regional outdoor tradeshows in the US.
