Clitheroe, UKPertex® is pleased to announce the Marmot Plasma 30 sleeping bag, featuring Pertex© Quantum fabric, as a recipient of a 2011 Backpacker Magazine Editors’ Choice Award. The award, presented to Marmot by Backpacker, Editor-in-Chief, Jonathan Dorn and his staff of editors and testers in January, 2011, at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, is the most prestigious award in the outdoor industry and a gold standard against which all outdoor products are measured.

The Plasma 30 sleeping bag was honored, along with 12 other innovative products, with the annual award for outstanding innovation in design, materials, and/or performance. The lightweight, down-proof, Pertex Quantum fabric allows for weight reduction of 25 – 50 percent over standard sleeping bag fabrics and features an extremely water repellant treatment. Weighing in at only 1 lb. 6 oz., the Plasma 30 with 900-fill goose down is made with vertical baffles and Flow Gate Construction, making the bag customizable for user preference in what is now the most technologically advanced sleeping bag on the market.

“Pertex is honored to be partnered with a company like Marmot dedicated to making advances in product technology,” said Steve Laycock, brand manager, Pertex. “They’ve done an amazing job with the Plasma bags and are well deserving of the Backpacker Editors’ Choice award.”

Since their inception, the Backpacker Editors’ Choice Awards have come to be regarded as the most sought-after award for outdoor equipment and apparel found in the industry. The impeccable outdoor credentials and rigorous field-testing standards of the Backpacker staff guarantee that these awards are an undisputed mark of quality for the companies and products selected.

The complete list of Backpacker 2011 Editors’ Choice Award winners will be officially announced to the general public in the magazine’s April Gear Guide issue, on newsstands March 9, 2011.
