For 88 years of building boots In Europe, LOWA has continued its tradition of incorporating old world know-how and experience with laserlike focus on new technologies, materials and designs for their outdoor customer's needs. 2012 will be no different.

LOWA has earned and continues to maintain the highly prestigious ISO 9001 manufacturing standards status. This requires them to continually review design, sourcing, manufacturing and quality processes and refine them when necessary. They are required to research raw materials, use the best available on the market, test the materials and incorporate them into their footwear.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR SPRING 2012
In the Mountaineering category… Designed for alpine mountaineering as well as difficult rock and ice-climbing: At the top, LOWA has pioneered a new kind of construction in the 2012 men's alpine Weisshorn GTX® featuring I-Core and I-Lock, two new technical innovations.

Patent-pending I-Core is a midsole construction incorporating carbon-fiber technology. A precise alignment of the carbon fibers achieves a balance of flex and torsional stability for better shock absorption and comfort. The result is a more nimble, lighterweight, more precise mixed-use alpine boot.

A new, patented LOWA design, I-Lock is a simple cam lace loop placed at the top of the foot. It grabs the lace and holds it tight so the foot can be firmly held and supported while allowing for flexible shaft lacing. Pushing the hook clip upwards easily releases the clamping and loosens the instep lacing.

For the approach: Many of the company's alpinist followers want LOWA product on the approach as well as on the ascent. The men's technical Triolet GTX® Lo answers this demand.

Backpacking: The men's Ticam GTX® is LOWA's 2012 showcase model for design details that epitomize performance. Developed for long trips with heavy loads over rugged terrain, this handcrafted model is packed with technical features such as the new I-Lock described above that maximize performance and comfort. Ladies will appreciate the new Timok GTX® made especially for their feet with details such as lower Comfort Cuffs, Comfort Spoilers, notched Achilles/ankle-area padded tongues and a women's last.

Trekking…For logging on-trail miles with a mid-weight pack: The expanded collection for 2012 features new models that are based on lighterweight soles with lighterweight toe and heel treatments. New models include the women's-specific Vivionne ll GTX® and Vivionne ll LL (leather lined) with FreeFlex. and the Khumbu ll GTX® and Khumbu ll LL styles.

Throughout this category are LOWA's proven technical features such as FreeFlex lacing that improves fit and reduces pressure across the top of the foot while holding the foot securely and reducing strain across the toes when the foot is flexed, especially going downhill. This is combined with special to-the-toe lacing that decreases pressure along the instep. A curved seam around the lacing prevents the upper material from overlapping and bunching up, thus alleviating pressure across the toes..

The FreeFlex concept has also been expanded into a new Focus family of trekking models: lightweight board-lasted sturdy hikers that feature FreeFlex-inspired lacing designs for added comfort. Not only do they perform to LOWA standards, they add a bright new aesthetic element to the line with a young and fun look for all ages.

ATC (All Terrain Collection)…Offers more choices, more comfort and more colors: The expanded family of ATC boots continues to be a cult favorite among day hikers and weekend adventure-seekers that want out-of-the-box comfort and zero break-in time. Featuring MONOWRAP® frame construction, the best –selling Renegade series returns for 2012 with a broad range of color and width options. Both GORE-TEX® and BMW-quality leather linings accommodate hikers from cold and wet to warm and dry conditions and everywhere in between.

New models include the Strato lll Lo and Scorpio Lo and Mid with both GORE-TEX® and leather linings. The Tempest collection, long the benchmark of go-anywhere trail shoes, now has mid-, quarter- and low-cut options made with waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX® liners for added versatility. All models are available for men and women.

ATC Crossover…Light hiking with heavy performance: Featuring lighter construction than the regular ATC series, LOWA's ATC Crossover boots are ideal for the majority of recreational day hikers, fast packers and for everyday use. The exclusive, lightweight MONOWRAP® frame construction adds flexibility without compromising support. ATC Crossover boots support up to 25 pounds of pack weight, protect over moderate terrain in temperate climates and require zero break-in time. The Buran GTX® for men and women is new in this category.

Speed Hiking….Fast and light: Today's outdoor customers like to get out and stay fit. They want comfort and stability in light, quick and flexible packages. The Gorgon GTX®, available in both QC (Quarter Cut) and low-cut versions for men and women, is the answer. Made with the MONOWRAP® foot-frame construction, lightweight Speed Hiking sole and all-synthetic uppers, the Gorgons are lightweight and stable for early morning speed hiking to everyday running around.

Trail Running…Trail technology for faster MPH: LOWA's well-established fit is blended with the innovative features that serious runners need in two new technical trail runners, the S-Crown in GORE-TEX® and mesh, and the S-Curve Mesh. Their STG Soft-to-Ground midsole concept uses targeted cushioning with materials of varying density and stiffness to provide the correct combination of shock absorption, targeted cushioning, stability and grip. A new Floating Tongue Construction further eliminates pressure points.
