LOWA presents their lineup of boots designed for active cold-weather use including snowshoeing, winter walking and hiking, or après sport. 2011-2012 is especially the year of the woman. Six fashion models debut LOWA's new lower profile Monowrap® frame for increased stability and the lighter, lower, women's-specific AL-S ll sole construction that protects the foot in snow and slush. Eight other men's and women's models feature three additional sole options including LOWA's proven G3 Sole that increases grip up to 32% over other kinds of material combinations. GORE-TEX® Partelana 80% wool and 20% polyester fleece lining in all models keeps feet waterproof, warm and comfortable.
AL-S SOLE UNIT
LOWA's new women's-only lightweight, protective sole unit.
All six of the new boots in this category are lasted for women and feature the Monowrap frame and AL-S sole for comfort and protection. The Lavaia GTX Hi is a high fashion, extra-tall, lace-up boot with a suede leather Turkish shearling cuff that can be folded up or down. The suede and brushed CORDURA® tall lace-up Paganella GTX is designed to look good on snow or over jeans on the street. Three models, the Alagna GTX, Brenta GTX and Carinzia GTX offer the same look and features in a choice of three heights. Lace-up uppers combine suede and quilted nylon with faux shearling cuffs. The suede and nylon, tall zip-front Solden GTX completes the AL-S sole collection.
G3 SOLE UNIT
Peter Sachs, general manager for LOWA, describes the G3 sole as
“skid pads and snow tires for your feet.â€
Five winter boots utilize LOWA's G3 sole. It is constructed with an SPS/PU midsole that provides maximum grip on snow and ice. The combination of a soft rubber blend with proprietary textile that helps act as a shock absorber increases grip by up to 32% over other kinds of material combinations. The large lug pattern follows the natural line of foot motion with a minimum of one lug in contact with the ground at all times during the roll-off motion.
Available for both men and women, The Baikal GTX, constructed of split leather and CORDURA, and the Couloir GTX, made from a split-leather, Nubuck and CORDURA combination, are multi-purpose winter boots covering the gamut from hiking, trekking and snowshoeing. The lighterweight men's Fiemme GTX Hi and women's Arona® GTX are insulated, suede and nylon mid-cut snow boots. The Nabucco GTX for both men and women is a slightly lower cut version of the Arona GTX.
CRYSTAL SOLE UNIT
Lightweight dual-density rubber winter sole unit provides maximum traction.
The new men's Laslo GTX is constructed of a beefy suede upper and features LOWA's Crystal dual-density rubber, lightweight winter sole unit. A lightweight PU midsole is combined with the rubber outsole, which has an aggressive tread pattern for maximum traction in snow and on ice. Another option featuring the Crystal sole is the synthetic and CORDURA® Trident GTX, available for both men and women.
LOWA SOLE UNIT
Outdoor trekking sole that does not hold snow and ice and provides a strong grip.
The men's-only Creek GTX features a waxed full-grain leather upper and is built on the LOWA Logo sole for surefooted winter hiking and traction in snow and mud. The LOWA stabilizer provides torsional stability underfoot.
