BOULDER, CO (Sept. 26, 2010) – On Wednesday, October 13, from 2:00 p.m. through 3:00 p.m. (MDT) Outdoor Industry Association® (OIA) will present Marketing Your Locally Owned Business, a live webinar, led by Rod and Sharon Johnson, owners of Midwest Mountaineering.

Started over 40 years ago in Rod’s kitchen and named Outdoor Retailer of the Year by Backpacker magazine and SNEWS® last January, Midwest Mountaineering sales and profits have shown yearly increases during the current recession. Rod and Sharon feel this is due to providing a fun shopping experience and being a locally owned business, and they’re planning to share their insights and tactics with others who face similar challenges. During the educational workshop, attendees will learn about the techniques used by Rod and Sharon to market their store, what worked and what didn’t, and how they recommend personalizing customer interactions to successfully increase sales.

Marketing Your Locally Owned Business is offered free to OIA members, EORA members and SNEWS subscribers and for $99 for non-members. Pre-registration by Tuesday, October 12 is required. For the full line up of Outdoor University® webinars and presenters and to sign up, visit www.outdoorindustry.org/ou2010.
