Kelty TC 2.1 child carrier wins NAPPA award

Super comfortable for kids and parents, the Kelty KIDS Transit Carrier 2.1 takes home Honors from National Parenting Publications Awards

The Kelty KIDS Transit Carrier (TC) 2.1 backpack-style child carrier stands out from the crowd as an Honors Award winner in the 2008 National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA) competition.

Innovative and easy to use, the TC 2.1 drew high marks for its comfortable ergonomics and variety of useful features, allowing parents to stay mobile and organized when traveling with children anywhere from around town to around the world.

“We're thrilled for this recognition,” said Christian Mason, Kelty marketing manager. “The Kelty KIDS product line has been an innovative and growing part of our active, outdoor lifestyle offering for years, and the introduction of the TC 2.1 allows us to provide yet another tool to help keep families on the go.”

The TC 2.1 is new for 2008 and comes in a variety of bold, bright colors. Some pack features include a secure, five-point child harness; adjustable torso length for different size parents; padded, ergonomic shoulder straps, back panel, and waist belt; and a zip-off diaper bag with shoulder straps. When not in use, the child seat folds away allowing the TC to be used a fully functional daypack.

“NAPPA-winning products meet the most stringent criteria and are judged by nationally recognized industry experts, educators and advocates in their fields,” says NAPPA spokesperson Barbara Smith Decker. “The NAPPA Parenting Resources awards have set the industry standard of excellence since 1999 and are a sought-after honor by designers, publishers and manufacturers. Parents know that they can trust NAPPA.”

Resonating well with dads in the test, the TC 2.1 will be tagged as a “Father Favorite” in the review, with one of the male judges commenting, “Kelty really did its homework. This carrier is safe, has good load-bearing and is protective, of both user and baby.”

The NAPPA Parenting Resources competition is a companion to the NAPPA Children's Products program, which has been highlighting the best in children's toys, books, music, DVDs, software, video games, Web sites, storytelling and spoken-word recordings for 18 years. The NAPPA program has been recognized for its service to parents, winning the Parenting Publications of America's Gold Award for its Children's Products coverage. NAPPA is a program of Dominion Parenting Media and its winners are featured in more than 30 regional parenting magazines nationwide and on All winners including the TC 2.1 will be featured on starting June 1.
