Vancouver, BC, September 25, 2018 -- Icebreaker, natural performance adventure and outdoors apparel brand, is launching innovative new base layers for Fall/Winter 2018 (FW18) that run the gamut of outdoors activity from Adventure, Lifestyle and Training.
Built by nature, Icebreaker comes from the antipodean land of merino sheep and varied climes, New Zealand. With 25 years of experience in natural performance textiles, Icebreaker has become the industry leader in transparency and sustainable business practices, working to create natural alternatives to synthetics, reducing toxic microplastics and provide an exemplary next-to-skin experience for consumers.
For FW18, the baselayer innovations include a lightweight 150gm BodyfitZONE™ collection with Zoned mesh breathability, the classic and updated 200 Oasis series for warmth, comfort and adventure activity, and the 100% Merino 250 Vertex series, for ultimate warmth and versatility.
As the lightest weight base layers from Icebreaker, the 150 BodyfitZONE™ pieces are a jersey corespun construction with an 83% featherweight Merino/12% Nylon/5% LYCRA combination. Thermally-mapped fabric zones regulate your body temperature with strategically placed eyelet panels for heat-dumping, while a base construction of corespun yarn gives extra durability and a touch of LYCRA® adds stretch and mobility.
Lynnette Stiger, Global Head of Merchandising said “With the addition of our ultralight 150 BodyfitZONE™ base layer we have addressed the need for a year round solution.”
The most popular weight and collection from Icebreaker, the 200gm jersey, 100% Merino, 200 Oasis series offers complete functionality and comfort in a wide variety of styles, from Long Sleeve V-neck, Scoop, Crewe and Half Zip tops, Boy Shorts, and Half and Full Leggings.
The Vertex Series, with 250gm jacquard 100% Merino, features a long sleeve half zip top and full leggings, for travel, lifestyle and winter sports use. The updated jacquard design is stylish and classic, and speaks to premium performance.
Naturally antimicrobial and breathable, merino wool has a number of other key performance benefits, including moisture management, natural heating and cooling, strength and resilience, next-to-skin comfort that surpasses all other wools, quick drying, and naturally sun protectant.
Chief Brand & Product Officer Carla Murphy said, “As category creators, we are committed to leading the design, refinery, and experience of wearing a natural performance base layer. We’ve spent a lot of time listening to our consumers and the seasonal evolution delivers against their feedback. In FW18 you’ll see subtle changes in design andfit that shouldn’t even be seen or felt, but make wearing an Icebreaker base layer feel like simply the best experience next to skin.’’
The FW18 Icebreaker Base Layer Collections launch September 2018, and will be available on Icebreaker.com and in-store at all Icebreaker Touchlabs across Canada and the United States.
