Helly Hansen’s Big Mountain Battle Adds Six New Resorts to its Global Line Up

Helly Hansen, the number one apparel choice of premium ski resorts around the world, announced today the expansion of its long-running Big Mountain Battle series to six new locations across the United States, Canada, and Norway.

With new North American stops coming to Smuggler’s Notch, VT and Mount Seymour, BC, each Big Mountain Battle challenges up to 100 two-person teams to a mountain-wide course designed by local ski patrollers for the ultimate all-mountain scavenger hunt. Teams must ski and hike to checkpoints spanning the entire mountain in less than three hours.

Simon Whitehead, sales and marketing manager for Mount Seymour Resorts, said he’s hopeful the Big Mountain Battle will allow guests and season pass holders to explore unfamiliar parts of the mountain and discover new hidden gems.

“Helly Hansen’s Big Mountain Battle is a favorite among diehard locals and families alike. The race, which is open to all skill levels, challenges skiers and snowboarders to use their insider’s knowledge to scour the mountain for checkpoints as fast as possible,” said Erik Burbank, vice president of global marketing for Helly Hansen. “Their enthusiastic support for this event is the reason why we expanded the Big Mountain Battle series in the US, Canada, and Norway with some of our outstanding resort uniform partners.”

Flaik will provide North American race officials and spectators with real-time stats, including location, speed, and altitude via each team’s GPS tracking device. Each stop’s fastest advanced team will receive $2,000 worth of Helly Hansen gear as well as entry to the final Battle in the Bowls at Aspen/Snowmass March 23.

But before the final showdown can occur at Aspen / Snowmass, the Big Mountain Battle will make stops at Smugglers Notch, Feb 8; Fernie, Feb 8; Taos, Feb. 15; Kicking Horse, Feb.15; Park City, Feb 22; Killington, Mar. 1; Mont-Sainte-Anne, Mar. 8; and Mt. Seymour, Mar. 15.

Helly Hansen opens its first-ever European Big Mountain Battle tour with stops at Strandafjellet, Feb 1.; Voss, Feb. 8; Myrkdalen, Feb 15; and Hafjell, Feb 22.
