The Grassroots Outdoor Alliance (Grassroots) just finished its 13th annual trade show in Ogden, Utah.
With 330 attending that included 44 vendors, 7 Value Added Business Services and all 46 Grassroots retail members, folks were excited with the quality of the show and the events showcased.
Mark Connors, Sales Manager Performance West for Ecco shared “Combining great business meetings with fun, community service and unparalleled networking opportunities, your show kept each of these elements tightly intertwined resulting in the perfect show setting and for that Grassroots deserves major kudos.”
Greg Wozer, VP Leki International “Belated but many thanks for another awesome early show last week in Ogden! We really appreciate being invited to your event and the opportunity to spend such quality time with your members. At the risk of repeating myself from last year, you really put on a first class show and the way you have it promotes such a great environment for retailers/vendor relationships. Makes me wonder what the outdoor business landscape would look like if the entire industry had the opportunity to operate within your structure.”
From the retailer’s perspective, new Grassroots member, Mike Kazmierczak, Buyer for The Mountaineer was pleased with attending his first show, “I just wanted to take a second and thank you for all the hard work in putting together the Grassroots show last week. The event was efficient, fun and effective for us as a retailer. We are psyched to be part of the group and hope that we can contribute to the continued success of the group.”
One of Grassroots guiding principles as an organization is to develop trade shows that properly represent independent outdoor specialty excellence and the uniqueness of the Grassroots Outdoor Alliance. This year’s community service focus was on gathering sponsorships from the Grassroots retail members and vendor partners for a large scale donation of bikes to disadvantaged youth in the Ogden community. Together, we were able to successfully donate 55 bikes and an additional $560 to both the Boys and Girls Club of Ogden and the Youth Community Connection.
Kevin Karch, National Sales Director Native Eyewear commented on the event: “I wanted to write a quick note to you on behalf of Native and Costa with regards to our first Grassroots Show. Wow! We were all impressed with how organized everything was and the extracurricular activities you scheduled for the group. The bike donation event was definitely a highlight for all of us. Seeing the happy faces of those kids left an impression on all of us. We will do more next year for sure! Lastly, it was very refreshing to have your members express their appreciation to us for support of the group whether they were doing business with us or not. You never hear that at other shows. Thanks for all your efforts to support your vendors and retailers.”
Other trade show activities included a business seminar on effective interviewing and hiring staff as well as a guided Via Ferratta, morning yoga with prAna and the third annual 5K Vasque Roots Run.
