ASHEVILLE, NC– The Grassroots Outdoor Alliance, a group of independent outdoor shops dedicated to the sustainability of the specialty outdoor channel and the quality of the outdoor enthusiast's experience, will kick off its annual Early Show on June 11th.

Historically, the Early Show is an invitation-only event for 30 vendors to meet with the 32 retailers in the Grassroots Outdoor Alliance. Each member is required to meet with each vendor allowing the vendor to give their best product pitch, discuss growth strategies, resolve conflicts and facilitate open communication. Appointments are made by the Grassroots staff easing the logistics of a traditional trade show.

This year's gathering, again taking place in Snowbird, Utah, keeps the heritage aspects of Grassroots in focus while weaving in the group's expanded mission statement.

The Early Show will be bringing its 32 retail members new insights to improve their independently-owned specialty outdoor stores. New speakers include Anne Obenchain, Vice President, Member Services & Marketing, of the Outdoor Industry Organization (OIA) (www.outdoorindustry.org ). Obenchain will speak to the group about staff education and best practices offered by OIA.

Additionally, Jason Gee of the Leisure Trends Group, will present an overview of how specialty retailers can use Leisure Trends Group data to improve their business operations. Traditionally, this data has been utilized more by vendors in the outdoor industry. Gee believes that retailers will undoubtedly find multiple benefits to incorporate statistical information into their buying and inventory management operations.

The Alliance is proud to announce that Chaco will be offsetting travel of all 32 members to the Early Show this year with offsets from Native Energy. Asolo-sponsored climber John Varco, widely considered to be one of America's strongest alpinists, will also treat the group to a slide presentation on Monday night.
