Eagle Creek Resumes Operations After Closing Due to Fires

Eagle Creek reopened after closing Monday and Tuesday due to the San Diego area fires.

Eagle Creek, maker of adventure travel gear, luggage and accessories reopened operations today after closing Monday and Tuesday due to the San Diego area fires.

Many of the employees were evacuated from their homes, and their children's schools were closed as fires raged throughout the county. Today, however a skeleton team of employees were able returned to work, many eager to get their minds off the current situation.

“It's been a surreal 48 hours,” said Veronica Cox, brand director at Eagle Creek. “It's good to be back to work, establishing some sense of normalcy, though our thoughts and prayers are with our co-workers, family and friends in the community still in jeopardy.”

Founder and president of Eagle Creek, Steve Barker and his wife Nona, who are both volunteer firefighters for Elfin Forrest, remain on the front lines; actively fighting fires since Sunday evening. No word on when they're expected to be called off.

The fires coincide with Eagle Creek's annual canned food drive, making it even more poignant as Eagle Creek offers assistance to those within the community.
