Eagle Creek President Recognized for Outstanding Community Service

Vanity Fair Corp.(VFC) recognized Steve Barker with VF100 award for his volunteer efforts in the San Diego community.

Vanity Fair Corp.(VFC) recognized Steve Barker with the VF100 award for his volunteer efforts in the San Diego community.

VFC Outdoor Coalition President Dave Gatto was on-hand to honor Barker with the VF100 award, given to the top 100 VFC employees who demonstrate a continued exemplary commitment to the communities in which they live and work, donating their time through volunteer service. 100 people were honored, out of nearly 43,000 employees worldwide.

Barker was recognized for his unrelenting efforts as captain of The Elfin Forest/Harmony Grove Fire Department, a service that's especially poignant given the recent fires which greatly affected San Diego County. Barker also volunteers with The Escondido Creek Conservancy, which he co-founded, and the Elfin Forest Town Council, all located in North County San Diego.

“We're proud of Steve's exceptional volunteer efforts in this community,” said Gatto. “This thank you is really personal for me; his efforts, along the efforts of others in fighting the recent fires helped save my home.”

As part of the award, Barker will have the opportunity to donate $1,000 to the charity of his choice. Barker has chosen to give the money to CDF Firefighters Benevolent Foundation to help four firefighters who are recovering from severe injuries related to the recent Harris Fire.
