The national Travel Goods Association (TGA) elected Eagle Creek's Executive Vice President Ricky Schlesinger to chairman of the board for the 2007-2009 term.

Prior to assuming this role, Schlesinger, a 30-year veteran to the travel industry, served on the board of directors of TGA for over 10 years. He was actively involved in the association's evolution from the Luggage & Leather Goods Manufacturers of America (LLGMA) to an all-inclusive association that represents the burgeoning travel industry. The TGA will look to Schlesinger for guidance in strategic initiatives, bringing the organization to new levels of service and achievement.

“Ricky has been an active member of the TGA Board of Directors for over ten years, so we know that he'll serve us well as our Chairman,” said TGA President Michele Marini Pittenger. “We look forward to working with Ricky and know that his enthusiasm, coupled with his strengths and expertise in sales and marketing, will bring many new ideas to our association.”

For the past 27 years, Schlesinger has helped grow Eagle Creek into a globally respected and recognized leader in travel gear for the independent traveler. He has dedicated more than half his life to the success of Eagle Creek and his ongoing commitment to innovation, building superior product and servicing the active travel market is why Eagle Creek is at the forefront of this retail category today.

Schlesinger is the recipient of numerous industry awards over the years, including the Outdoor Industry Leadership Excellence Award in 1998 and the TGA Individual of the Year award in 2001. He is the only recipient of the awards in both markets.
