Aquamira®, the personal water treatment brand distributed by McNett®, is pleased to announce that its Water Treatment Drops has been awarded the 2012 Top Pick Award from OutdoorGearLab.com. Fifteen of the top filters and purification systems were compared in extensive side-by side testing. The systems were evaluated in the following categories: reliability, weight, treating larger volumes, time before drinking, ease of use and taste, with Aquamira taking home the Top Pick Award.

“Chlorine dioxide treatments like the Aquamira Water Treatment Drops are the lightest and smallest water treatment method, making this system perfect for an emergency water treatment method or for weight-conscious hikers,” said OutdoorGearLab.com gear editor McKenzie Long. “We considered giving this treatment method a Best Buy Award because it is so economical, but overall it is such an effective and simple method that we decided it was worthy of our Top Pick Award for being light and inexpensive."

Aquamira Water Treatment Drops is the only chlorine dioxide tablet alternative currently available. The liquid drops treat up to 30 gallons of water and is the preferred water treatment method among backcountry travelers, instructors and guides since 1999.

“Aquamira Water Treatment Drops is a significantly stronger oxidant than iodine with greater pathogen killing power,” said Gerald Craft, consumer relations specialist at McNett. “Chlorine dioxide has been shown to remove greater than 99.9% of bacteria, viruses and cysts, including Cryptosporidium and Giardia, so users can be comfortable drinking water in any situation.”
