Don't miss the all-day party later this summer, where the Cherry Creek meets the South Platte River in Lower Downtown Denver.
Today, Outdoor Retailer announced details about its summer demo day dubbed “Urban Adventures,” which will precede the national trade show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 22 at Confluence Park and Commons Park.
Get your fix of camping, canoeing, climbing, fly fishing, SUPing, trail running, and other demos. The event will stage along the banks of the river at Commons Park and take over the sandy beach at Confluence Park as a launch point for paddle demos.
“Denver’s unique downtown outdoor landscape makes the first demo in the city not only exciting and insightful, but efficient for buyers flying in,” said Marisa Nicholson, the show’s director. “We also benefit from a strong retail presence. We know our event is going to generate a lot of interest and curiosity from the thousands of people living and working in the area that day, and we want to connect them with the retailers who have the gear they can try and buy now.”
The parks are located within walking, biking, and free shuttle distance from all points downtown, and just five minutes by foot from Union Station.
Jon Kahn, owner of Confluence Kayaks, a shop a block away from the junction, said the area has been the stage for other events, such as the consumer-facing RiverFest at the end of June. But the Outdoor Retailer event will be of a different, larger magnitude.
“I think we’ll be really busy because there will be a lot of people in the neighborhood,” Kahn said. “It’s a really unique venue. It’ll be cool and people will have an opportunity to try a bunch of different stuff, including whitewater, which Outdoor Retailer hasn’t had before.”
