TransRockies Run Sells out for Twelfth Straight Year, Draws National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, Ultrarunning Elite and More - SNEWS

Buena Vista, Colo. (July 10, 2018) - TransRockies Events, host of the 12th annual TransRockies Run, is proud to announce another sold out event with a stellar field of athletes, including the return of National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, Mirna Valerio. The infamous six day stage race spans 120 miles and 20,000 feet of elevation in the Rocky Mountains, from Buena Vista to Beaver Creek, CO.

The grueling race, which has sold out each year since its inception, brings over 500 runners, volunteers and spectators to some of the highest points of the Continental Divide to experience a mass migration through the Colorado Rockies that nourishes the soul as it tests the body.

Valerio, known to her fans as “the Mirnavator,” is an educator and fitness advocate who garnered international attention as part of REI’s Force of Nature campaign. Her autobiography, A Beautiful Work in Progress, shot onto the bestseller charts in late 2017. Valerio joins a robust field of athletes at this year’s event, which kicks off, August 14, 2018. Toeing the line along side Valerio will be:

  • Kyle Roubidoux: Visually impaired athlete who joins this year with the goal of becoming the first VI athlete to complete the grueling 6-day stage race;
  • Lucy Bartholomew: Third-place finisher at the 2018 Western States race;
  • Clare Gallagher: Renowned ultra runner and winner of the 2016 Leadville Trail 100.

“This year’s TransRockies Run is going to be one to watch,” said TransRockies vice president of operations, Kevin McDonald. “We’re excited to welcome a field of runners who are really pushing the limits of what people believe they can do.”

Registration for the 2019 event opens on July 20 and can be found at transrockies-run.com. To follow along during this year’s event, be sure to follow TransRockies on Facebook and Instagram.
