SEATTLE, WA (December 3, 2015) – Therm-a-Rest, the market leader in camp comfort products for over 40 years, has named Chris Parker as copywriter to help drive the brand’s voice as the Seattle-based manufacturer continues to expand into new categories.
Parker cut his editorial teeth at Rock & Ice magazine in Carbondale, Colo., where he most recently served as online editor. He initially joined the publication as a freelancer while attending Fort Lewis College, and came on-board as an intern and events coordinator prior to achieving an editorial position. In his new position Parker is responsible for contributing to and editing the Therm-a-Rest blog, website, catalogs, point of purchase, and all Therm-a-Rest marketing collateral.
“Chris’ creativity, enthusiasm and appreciation for the Therm-a-Rest lifestyle makes him an ideal fit,” said Jim Boswell, Marketing Director, Therm-a-Rest. “His proven writing ability and outdoor experience are a great addition to the team and will help us successfully communicate with consumers through an authentic voice.”
Long known for its camping mattresses, Therm-a-Rest has rapidly expanded into sleeping bags, quilts, hammocks, cots, camp chairs and accessories in recent years with plans to grow its offerings in the coming seasons. The copywriter position is critical for clarifying and energizing the brand as it continues to expand.
Newly married, Parker relocated to Seattle in early 2015 prior to starting his new position with Therm-a-Rest. He is an avid climber, skier, and biker and is looking forward to testing gear and getting to know the Cascade Mountains.
Seattle-based Therm-a-Rest has been the market leader in premium outdoor comfort since its invention of the world’s first self-inflating mattress in 1972. Commitment to providing inventive, long-lasting and reliable products has driven the expansion of the line from mattresses into sleeping bags, blankets, hammocks, cots and camp furniture solutions that reinvent the way people enjoy the outdoors. All Therm-a-Rest mattresses are made in Seattle and Reno, U.S.A. and Cork, Ireland, manufacturing facilities. For more information, visit Therm-a-Rest.com.
