Suunto Adds Alpinist Greg Hill to Athlete Roster

Record-setting skiing mountaineer is a long-time Suunto user

Suunto, a global leader in sports precision instruments, is excited to announce the addition of record-setting skier and mountaineer Greg Hill to its professional athlete team.Hill will represent Suunto’s outdoor category of wristtop computers.

In 2010, as a part of his “Greg Hill 2 Mil” campaign, Hill became the first person to log two million vertical feet of ski-touring in one year. Hill used a Suunto altimeter/barometer/compass to record his altitude traveled over 266 days of climbing and skiing. Averaging 7,570 feet per day, Hill climbed 71 peaks and logged 77 days of more than 10,000 vertical feet.

Hill will use Suunto training wristops to gear up for the grueling ski season and maintain his fitness level during the winter schedule. He’ll use Suunto altimeter, barometer, compass watches to log his vertical feet hiked and skied, and to monitor weather trends for backcountry safety.

“In addition to his skill as an alpinist, Greg brings passion and inspiration to the Suunto team,” says Chris McKearin, Suunto Consumer Marketing and Events Coordinator. “He’s an accomplished athlete and outdoorsman who can motivate other enthusiasts in their own adventures. Trusting Suunto to log his accomplishment of two million vertical feet, we’re proud that Greg has been a Suunto user even before this official partnership.”
