SMITH JOINS TEAMWORTHY IN SUPPORT OF HIV/AIDS AWARENESS - SNEWS

PORTLAND, OR (May 22, 2019) - Smith is proud and honored to support Gus Kenworthy - Olympic freeskier, actor and HIV/AIDS advocate – as he and members of #TeamWorthy ride in the AIDS/LifeCycle from June 2-8, 2019 to bring awareness to the ongoing HIV/AIDS epidemic and fundraise for services supporting testing, prevention, care, and more. AIDS/LifeCycle is a fully supported, 7 day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles with over 200,000 participants, co-produced by and benefiting San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

With a mission to raise $1 million for the cause, Kenworthy designed limited-edition TeamWorthy versions of the Smith Trace road bike helmet and Trackstand sunglasses for sale exclusively on smithoptics.com during the ride. Half of the proceeds from TeamWorthy products sold will go directly to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

“By talking about the disease, posting about it, and writing about it, we all help de-stigmatize it. Proper education and open communication is our best chance of curbing the rate of new infections and encouraging people to get tested, know their status and utilize safe sex practices. I am endlessly thankful for and appreciative of all of my generous donors but I know that we can still do more!” said Kenworthy.
