Sherpa Adventure Gear Mourns Loss of Chhewang Nima Sherpa

Chhewang Nima Sherpa -- accomplished Himalayan alpinist with 19 Everest ascents -- is feared lost in an avalanche on Mount Baruntse in Nepal. Chhewang Nima has been an ambassador and athlete for Sherpa Adventure Gear.

Renton, WA-- Chhewang Nima Sherpa--an accomplished professional guide and Everest climber with 19 summits to his credit--was caught in an avalanche on Mount Baruntse last week and feared has lost his life. Chhewang Nima was a brand ambassador for Sherpa Adventure Gear.

According to an October 24th article on Guardian.uk.com, Sherpa was caught in an avalanche on October 23rd while fixing ropes for a summit attempt of the 7,129-meter peak in eastern Nepal.

Tashi Sherpa, founder of Sherpa Adventure Gear, in a statement, said, "All of us at the Sherpa Adventure Gear family are deeply saddened to learn that our brand ambassador Chhewang Nima lost his life in a tragic accident on Baruntse peak. We pray to the Eternal Presence that his soul may find comfort in its journey and offer our deepest condolences to his bereaved wife and little children.



Chhewang was the complete Sherpa, humble and full of modest grace in spite of his tremendous status as an elite Sherpa mountaineer. We will miss his smiling presence deeply in the days to come."
