“The lightest, most comfortable crampon-compatible boot I've ever worn”

Boulder,Co – The SALEWA Rapace GTX has won this year‘s 2011 Climbing Magazine Editors' Choice Award. As a vertically oriented company, SALEWA is honored to be placed at the top of its class by Climbing Magazine and its elite group of gear abusers. This product award highlights SALEWA's innovation in design, materials and performance.

The Climbing Magazine's Editors' Choice Awards features products that more than 50 testers have chosen as the best of the year, based on months of vertical testing from Vermont to the Himalayas. With no set categories for the awards and no set number of recipients, the products and the testing process drive the award categories.

The SALEWA Rapace GTX was the only boot honored with this award in 2011. Officially launched in America in the Spring of 2010, SALEWA pulls upon a rich 75 year history among the ranks of the European outdoor climbing community.

The Rapace GTX, new for Spring 2011, brings all of SALEWA's technology into one ambitious approach-to-summit boot. The Rapace GTX excelled in performance, fit, and durability during this year's Editors Choice review. Together with its 3F power system, extended climbing laces, 360 rubber rand, and Vibram Mulaz outsole, the Rapace GTX is redefining how we reach the top.

Chris Sword, President of SALEWA North America adds, “We would like to thank Climbing Magazine for rewarding our strong passion for the vertical world. This award recognizes the combination of innovation, dedication, and deep experience on our team, as well as our ability to create a versatile all-mountain, all-conditions mountaineering boot”.

Originally introduced in 2006, the all-mountain SALEWA footwear collection features the trademarked SALEWA 3F System for an unbeatable combination of flexibility, ankle support, and a remarkable blister free guarantee. With a customizable fit, the best Italian leathers combined with GORE-TEX®, and the most advanced technologies in sole construction – SALEWA promises hours, days, and weeks of climbing and backpacking comfort.
