Redwood Creek Wines partners with Planet Green Blaze Trails to uncover finalists for the "Greater Outdoors Project"

One Worthy Environmental Nonprofit will receive a $50,000 Grant and a National Ad Campaign

Modesto, CA (December 2008) – What would you do with $50,000? Redwood Creek wines wants to pay it forward in an effort to help better America's great outdoors. Redwood Creek, known for making wines that satisfy one's taste for adventure, established the Greater Outdoors Project to recognize and support nonprofit organizations that share its commitment to preserve, protect and provide access to America's great outdoors. Together, Planet Green, the first and only 24-hour eco-lifestyle network that takes an active role in generating conversation and motivating individuals to take action when it comes to improving the environmental status of our planet, and Redwood Creek are calling on organizations nationwide to apply for the next $50,000 grant to fund a specific outdoor project unique to that group. Interested organizations can apply NOW through March 1, 2009 on
A panel of judges actively involved in the outdoor community, including Redwood Creek Winemaker Cal Dennison, will review applications from hiking, water conservation and energy preservation groups, to name a few. Redwood Creek encourages applicants to be creative in their project submissions. Whether clearing pollution from Lake Erie, collecting litter from the trails of the Redwood Forests, or sprucing up the appearance of the Everglades, any project dedicating to improving the outdoors is deemed appropriate.
From April 1 through May 31, 2009, outdoor enthusiasts will have the opportunity to let their voice be heard by voting for their favorite nonprofit online or via text message. The winning organization will be announced next summer and will be featured in a national Redwood Creek advertising campaign that will run in top outdoor magazines at the end of 2009, helping the organization raise awareness for its cause and share its mission with others.

Receiving over 40,000 votes, the first annual Greater Outdoors Project $50,000 grant was awarded to the Southeast Wisconsin Chapter Of Trout Unlimited to fund the “Camp Creek Restoration Project” to improve water quality and fishing opportunities in Camp Creek, located near Madison, Wisc.
To enter into this year's Greater Outdoors Project, participants must complete the online application at, which includes submitting a statement of purpose, detailed budget, timeline and photographs of the proposed project. All project work must be completed by December 2010. Only one application per organization will be considered and all submissions must be dedicated to a specific project. The grant applicant must be 21 years of age or older and a legal U.S. citizen. Only members or representatives of registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply.
