Red Wing, MN – May 18, 2010 – The Vasque PROJECT is back for another season of ‘competition and community for a cause'. This Saturday, May 22, is the Scenic City Trail Marathon and ½ Marathon in Chattanooga, TN, sponsored by the Vasque PROJECT and Rock/Creek. The race will take place on the trails surrounding Raccoon Mountain's TVA Pumped Storage Facility. The race starts at 8:00 a.m. at the Laurel Point parking lot. For more details and to register for this race go to www.rockcreek.com/trailmarathon

The trails were built by SORBA (Southeast Off-Road Bicycle Organization) and are primarily single track with a great combination of climbs, descents, long straight-aways and rock hopping. Conditions will be ideal for those looking to post a personal best or try a trail race for the first time.

In the last 2 years $8300 has been raised for The Wilderness Trail Association through donations from Vasque footwear and Scenic City race proceeds. This money is used for future trail races, trail maintenance and sustainability efforts in the Cumberland and Southern Appalachian Mountains. Proceeds from the Rock/Creek Trail Series benefit the Wilderness Trail Association and the Vasque Project will match up to $1000 of funds raised. The Rock/Creek StumpJump 50k on October 2 and The Lookout Mountain 50K & 10K on December 18 will also be a part of the Vasque PROJECT race series.

"We are excited to have the support of the Vasque Project as we continue in our efforts to help people enjoy and take part in preserving wilderness trails. “says Jonathan Mobley, Race Director, Rock/Creek Trail Series and Executive Director, Wilderness Trail Association “It is encouraging to be a part of a larger network of communities connected to such a necessary cause.”
