Outdoor Research, manufacturer of functional solutions for human powered adventure, is celebrating climber and co–owner of International Mountain Guides, George Dunn's record-setting 500th ascent of Mount Rainier. This weekend George will begin the three-day climb of the 14,411-foot peak with the 500th summit coming on Sunday July 31st.

“IMG and OR have been working together for several years now,” said Christian Folk, spokesman for Outdoor Research. “IMG is a terrific partner and in recognition of George's achievement, Outdoor Research is donating $1000 in his name to the Khumbu Climbing School in Nepal through the Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation,” added Folk.

“George and his remarkable skills and determination are inspiration to all of us. We will all be cheering him on from sea-level as he tops Rainier for an amazing 500th time,” said Dan Nordstrom, president and CEO of Outdoor Research.

George made his first ascent of Mount Rainier during high school. Of the thousands of people who have climbed the mountain, only eight have climbed the mountain 300 times and three have 400 summits. “It's never been about the numbers; it's always been about the people I've met along the way and sharing lifetime memories with them,” said Dunn of his achievement.

In 1986, George and three fellow climbers formed International Mountain Guides and started leading expeditions all over the world. Today they put more people on top of Mount Everest each spring than any other American guide service. George lives in Seattle, WA with his wife Nancy and two sons Jeremy and Jimmy.
