Seattle, WA June 17, 2019Nuun has teamed up with sustainability start-up Vessel to debut an innovative reusable sampling cup program at their expo booth during Summer Outdoor Retailer June 18th – 20th. As an early member of the Plastic Impact Alliance, Nuun pledged to a single-use free trade show, and in partnership with Vessel, developed an industry-first solution to meet this challenge. Vessel will be providing reusable stainless steel cups to Nuun for sampling of their hydration products throughout Outdoor Retailer that Vessel will wash, sanitize and return daily throughout the duration of the show.

Clean Planet is a pillar of the Nuun brand. Dedicated to reducing the company’s carbon footprint through packaging and beyond, Nuun has committed to not producing their hydration products in ready-to-drink single-use bottles, saving on plastic production and the emissions created when shipping millions of bottles filled with water. Through joining the Plastic Impact Alliance, signing the Plastic Impact Promise and partnering with Vessel at Outdoor Retailer, Nuun will be kicking off a new initiative to also minimize their waste at the many events they attend each year.

“We are extremely encouraged and motivated by the mission of the Plastic Impact Alliance,” shared Kevin Rutherford, Nuun President and CEO. “We immediately joined the initiative, and asked ourselves how we could do better and eliminate our single-use sample cups at Outdoor Retailer. I applaud the remarkable team at Vessel for providing us with a game-changing solution that is a huge step in our goal of zero waste trade show booths.”

Vessel is a leader in the reuse revolution, positively disrupting the disposable industry. Their primary service offers a sustainable alternative to the single-use cups offered at coffee shops. Customers check out free insulated stainless-steel beverage containers and drop them off at participating locations, a program modeled after bike-sharing initiatives. This partnership with Nuun at Outdoor Retailer is an exciting start to their offerings of reusable opportunities at trade shows. Vessel has also teamed up with Patagonia to provide a similar service at the show.

"As leaders in circular economy solutions to disposables, we are excited to expand our offerings to the trade show industry with Nuun at Outdoor Retailer,” added Dagny Tucker, Founder of Vessel. “Food and beverage trade shows can produce upwards of 9.4 million disposable sample cups per show. Beyond sustainability, our elegant solution adds beauty and sophistication for a better exhibit experience for vendors and attendees alike."
