Rohnert Park (CA): Last November, Marmot, a leading outdoor manufacturer, and Grassroots Outdoor Alliance, a buying group of nearly 42 independent specialty retailers with over 90 store fronts across the United States, collaborated for a second season on a promotional and fundraising event for The Conservation Alliance, one of the most important environmental conservation organizations in the outdoor industry. Promoted through Grassroots retailers, throughout the month of November, $10 from the sale of any Marmot products—$99.00 or more—was donated to The Conservation Alliance. The net effect totaled $10,000.
“For the second year in a row, Marmot and Grassroots Outdoor Alliance have partnered on a promotion that generated a meaningful contribution to our efforts to protect wild places,†said John Sterling, Conservation Alliance Executive Director. “We applaud Marmot and Grassroots for developing a creative initiative that proves business and conservation can go hand-in-hand.â€
“Marmot has thoroughly enjoyed working with Grassroots on this promotion, explains Tom Fritz, Marmot's Vice President of Marketing. “We've raised $10,000 for an environmental organization that we all believe in, so completely.â€
Roanne Miller, Grassroots President explains, “The Conservation Alliance is the only national organization that we support and all of the retail members of Grassroots are dedicated stewards of the environment. We believe in the great work they do to insure that we take care of our natural resourcesâ€
Participating Grassroots stores that helped to make the promotion a success were: Alpine Shop, Ltd., Appalachian Outdoors, Black Creek Outfitters BaseCamp, Black Creek Outfitters, Buffalo Peak Outfitters, Champaign Surplus, Great Outdoor Provision Co., Half Moon Outfitters, Massey's Professional Outfitters, Midwest Mountaineering, Mountain Chalet, Mountain High Outfitters, Nat's Outdoor Sports, River Sports Outfitters, Peak Sports, Rock Creek Outfitters, Skinny Skis, Travel Country Outdoors, Ute Mountaineer and Wilson's Eastside Sports.
