Santa Rosa, CA – Outdoor clothing, apparel and equipment manufacturer, Marmot Mountain, LLC, has just won Backcountry Magazine's Editor's Choice Award for the sidecountry-inspired Access Jacket—new from Marmot this winter. Also prominently featured in Backcountry's popular photo-issue, which hits newsstands this week, are Marmot's Variant Jacket, Backside Glove and Vars Half Zip.

“The Access is a unique sidecountry hybrid jacket that caters to skiers riding lifts and climbing for their turns,” explains Drew Pogge, Backcountry's Editor-in-Chief. “Its warmth is sufficient for chilly lift laps, but not so overbearing as to make the jacket impractical in the skin track. The color and cut made us look pretty good, too” he adds. With its durable yet sophisticated styling and unique features—including a BOA dial on the back of the hood—the Access Jacket ($400) is a premier example of Marmot's commitment to alpine and sidecountry skiing.

Pogge and the editorial staff at Backcountry also field-tested Marmot's Variant Jacket ($140), which won the prestigious Polartec Apex Award earlier this year. “We found the Variant to be a fantastic mid-layer that breathes, insulates, and blocks the wind. Paired with a light base-layer and a quality shell, this thing can handle quite a range of weather” explains Pogge.

The Editor-in-Chief is also quick to call out the quality materials and construction of the Backside Glove ($65), which was also featured in the issue. He explains the gloves were not too warm while skinning and not too cool for skiing, and that on many days “these were the only gloves we needed”. Marmot's Vars Half Zip ($140) made with Polartec® Power Stretch® was also featured as a mid-layer option.
