LOWA is once again partnering with the Sierra Club’s Clair Tappaan Lodge, Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) Joe Dodge Lodge and Mohican Outdoor Center, and the YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center for their annual “Take a Hike on Us” no-charge demo boot program. The program will run from Memorial Day through Columbus Day.
In 2011, the Sierra Club and Sierra Magazine were the first partnerships to run a Demo Center out of the flagship Clair Tappaan Lodge, on top of Donner Pass in California’s Sierra Nevada. In 2012, LOWA partnered with the AMC to open a Demo Center at Joe Dodge Lodge in Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire. The program was so successful that it was duplicated at the Mohican Outdoor Center located in the 70,000-acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area close to the Appalachian Trail in New Jersey. LOWA’s newest partner is the YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center in Estes Park, Colorado, surrounded on three sides by the Rocky Mountain National Park.
The centers have enabled thousands of hikers the opportunity to “Take a Hike on Us” and enjoy a day in LOWA demo boots at no charge while enjoying the trails and scenery that each area offers. All the lodges reap the benefit of city dwellers and suburban enthusiasts taking advantage of accessible, affordable and beautiful places to hike and enjoy other outdoor activities.
“The Demo Center program is a growth initiative for LOWA and our partners,” commented Peter Sachs, general manager of LOWA in the U.S. “It is a framework that allows potential LOWA consumers to try before they buy and encourages people to get acquainted with Sierra Club, AMC and YMCA initiatives at each area. LOWA’s goal is to help consumers realize the benefit and enjoyment of top quality footwear designed for specific terrain as opposed to everyday-casual or basketball-type shoes frequently seen on the trails. Happy feet will mean happy hikers.”
