Boulder, CO (August 5, 2011) -- Leisure Trends Group (LTG) and the National Shoe Retailers Association (NSRA) announced today that LTG will extend its coverage of the active lifestyle market by offering a RetailTRAKâ„¢ Point-of-Sale (POS) Tracking Service of independent shoe specialty dealers* in the United States. "We have spent several years studying the options for our industry to be provided with retail sell-through data and we are confident that Leisure Trends' best-in-class RetailTRAK platform is ideal for both retailers and suppliers in our channel," states Chuck Schuyler, President of NSRA.

Leisure Trends Group is the leader in providing marketplace insights for a variety of sports and lifestyle industries and conducts retail sales tracking of footwear, apparel, and equipment for the Snowsports, Outdoor, Cycling, Run, Fitness, Paddle and Scuba Dive industries.

LTG President Charlie Cooper adds, "Tracking retail sales in specialty retailers is not only a core competency, it is also consistent with LTG's view that a thriving specialty retail channel is the key to growth in an industry because specialty retail channels are where new products are tested and trends are set. LTG is committed to providing information to make both specialty retailers and their suppliers successful over the long-term. This channel is a perfect fit for Leisure Trends as these retailers sell high-quality and performance products and are focused on customer service. Store employees know their products and customers and take pride in measuring and fitting customers properly."

In September, Leisure Trends will field the first Retail Market Distribution Study for this channel. The Distribution Study will establish key benchmarks including, number of management and doors, average dollar volume by door, brands carried, and geographical spread.

In 2012, Leisure Trends will begin publishing monthly retail sales data tracking category/class/brand/model reports for the estimated $9 billion independent shoe retailer channel.

Leisure Trends will cover all categories, brands and styles sold in the same detailed manner it uses for all other industries.

*This channel is comprised of independently owned and operated specialty footwear stores. The typical shoe specialty owner owns two to three stores with an average per-pair price of $88. Most shoe specialty retailers sell shoes for adults and children, as well as accessories and add-ons.
