Las Vegas (Sept. 15, 2011) - Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort (LVSSR) announces that it has selected David Gosnell as its finance director and has named Dan Hooper director of skier services.
Gosnell will oversee LVSSR’s accounting, finance, IT and human resources departments. He will play a key role in the development and execution of the financial plan surrounding the resort’s $35 million expansion that will take place over the next 10 to 12 years.
In addition to having served on LVSSR’s volunteer ski patrol for two years, Gosnell brings 15 years of experience in financial and IT management with a proven track record of devising strategies that yield growth and solid financial performance. He was the controller at Flippin’s Trenching Inc., a construction company, was the director of finance and information technology at Cenegenics and worked as a senior consultant with McGladrey & Pullen, a certified public accounting and tax consulting firm. All companies are in Las Vegas.
Gosnell earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth.
Hooper will oversee the LVSSR Ski and Snowboard School, where he will play an integral role in developing new programs to meet the needs of the area’s clientele as its expansion plan is implemented. In addition, he will direct the guest services, rental, retail and ticketing departments as well as the area’s NASTAR (National Standard Race) program, the largest public grassroots ski race program in the world.
Hooper brings 11 years of ski school and skier service experience at resorts that include: Moonlight Basin Resort and Big Sky Resort in Big Sky, Mont., Heavenly Resort in Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Mount Ruapehu, the largest ski resort in New Zealand. Most recently, he managed the children’s ski and snowboard school at Winter Park Resort in Winter Park, Colo. He holds certifications with the Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors as a snowboard instructor, children’s educator and a division examiner.
“Dan and David are great additions to our team at LVSSR. This is a very exciting time in our history, and our growth plans require strong leadership in both the financial management and service areas,” says Kevin Stickelman, LVSSR’s president. “David and Dan bring a wealth of experience to the table and their combined backgrounds with endemic and non-endemic companies allow LVSSR to create exciting new strategies and service programs.”
