Portland, OR – February 5, 2008 – This week, Hybrid.Care, the KEEN corporate giving program, is thrilled to deliver $9,290 to worthy organizations: The Conservation Alliance, Big City Mountaineers, Leave No Trace, and American Whitewater. This year more than 200 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market attendees lined up around the KEEN booth to make a $50 donation in exchange for a pair of KEEN Ventura shoes and a KEEN Menlo Park bag. KEEN then donated all the proceeds to the four non-profit organizations.

Both the shoes and the bags represent the Company's continuing efforts to create more sustainable products. The Ventura uses natural latex rubber in the outsole, recycled aluminum eyelets, and a recycled cork and PU footbed. The Menlo Park features a rubber bottom, a polyester lining and aluminum hardware made from recycled materials.
“This is the fifth fundraiser KEEN has hosted at Outdoor Retailer,” said Kirk Richardson, President of KEEN Inc. “It's really a win-win. Our guests walk away with some great products and have the opportunity to support organizations whose efforts support the entire outdoor industry.”

The four organizations receiving the proceeds from the mini-fundraiser are gratified by the continuing support from KEEN. "KEEN continues to be a key partner for The Conservation Alliance, constantly seeking creative ways to support our work,” says John Sterling, executive director of The Conservation Alliance. “Funds raised through this event will support our efforts to protect the wild lands and waterways that are special to outdoor industry customers,” he says.

People were lined up an hour before the event began, but that didn't surprise Mark Singleton, executive director of American Whitewater. “The KEEN fundraising happy hour is always filled with fun and energy and gives American Whitewater an opportunity to discuss river stewardship projects with Outdoor Retailer participants from across the country. Money raised at the KEEN event goes into local communities where we have active river projects, like removal of Condit Dam on the White Salmon River,” says Singleton.

“Its now an annual fundraising program that people look forward to,” says Mark Godley, executive director of Big City Mountaineers. “Hundreds of OR attendees get a great deal on a superb KEEN product and some of the leading outdoor industry non-profits get some very nice checks.”
