KE Adventure Travel named ‘Best Trekking Company on Earth’

Worldwide trekking, climbing, biking and family adventure specialists receive top honors from National Geographic Adventure

DENVER, COLORADO -- KE Adventure Travel is the “Best Hiking and Trekking Operator on Earth,” according to the November issue of National Geographic Adventure (circulation: 500,000), a magazine known for coverage of innovative outdoor pursuits and unique global travel opportunities.

In world's first authoritative rating of adventure travel operators, according to the magazine, KE Adventure Travel topped a list of 106 finalists. The process was intended to spotlight travel brands which are “teaching their clients about the places they visit,” “pushing the frontiers of discovery and adventure,” and “giving back to the planet.”

“This incredible attention from National Geographic, one of the oldest and most respected media sources in the world, is such an incredible honor,” said Peter Rudy, KE Adventure Travel North American director. “The world of adventure travel is on a significant upswing right now, as Americans are waking up to the importance of finding more meaningful and memorable ways to spend their leisure time.”

A publication of the National Geographic Society, Adventure surveyed over 200 outfitters for the awards, many of whom did not make the final cut. Questionnaires, interviews, anonymous research, and client references were all taken in to consideration over a six-month period. The finalists were scored on categories of Education & Interpretation, Sustainability, Quality of Service, Client References, and Spirit of Adventure.

In addition to being the top overall brand in the Hiking and Trekking category, KE Adventure Travel scored a perfect 100 in “Spirit of Adventure.”

“While we're obviously extremely honored to be held in such high esteem by National Geographic, we're just as happy to be so well regarded by our loyal customers,” said Rudy, who was himself a repeat client of KE Adventure Travel before taking his current role as North American director.

The National Geographic Adventure award joins two other prestigious honors for KE Adventure Travel in 2007. Last January, they received an AITO (Association of Independent Tour Operators) “3 Star” Award for Achievement in Responsible Tourism (LINK); and earlier this month they were named a finalist as Best Tour Operator in the Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards (LINK).
