Implus Footcare brands Highgear and Yaktrax will host the COLD SUMMER Happy Hour on Thursday, August 2, from 5 - 7 p.m. to raise money for Big City Mountaineers (BCM), the non-profit that instills critical life skills in under-served urban youth through transformational wilderness mentoring expeditions. Highgear and Yaktrax athlete and Polar Adventurer Eric Larsen will be on hand to share photos, videos and stories from his current BCM Summit for Someone climb of seven peaks in the Pacific Northwest.

Eric and his expedition partner Ryan Waters are currently in the Seattle area to climb seven peaks, including Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood, in an effort to raise $7,000 (7 for 7k) for BCM. Summit for Someone (SFS), BCM's largest fundraising initiative, allows individuals the opportunity to enjoy either a professionally guided climb on one of 14 epic peaks or the ability to create a custom adventure, all to provide inner-city youth with life-changing wilderness experiences alongside adult mentors.

"Highgear has been a long-time supporter of BCM and we're excited to be able to partner with Eric and the other companies on this mission to help out such a great cause,” says Todd Vore, President of Implus. “Our hope is that Eric's climb will not only raise funds and awareness for Big City Mountaineers, but for the greater cause of connecting a new generation to the outdoors."

Along with the support of other mutual partners of Eric and BCM including Clif, Stanley, Optic Nerve, Vapur and DeLorme, Highgear and Yaktrax have agreed to match all donations up to $2,000 in support of Eric's climb. To learn more about Eric's climb and SFS, or to donate in honor of Eric, visit summitforsomeone.org.
