Grand Trunk Expands Program in Support of Veterans and Military Personnel
Skokie, IL — (November 6, 2015) — Grand Trunk, makers of goods for the road, is proud to show its support for our nation’s veterans by instating a 30-percent discount program to any person who serves in the military. The program will officially launch on the brand’s website ahead of Veteran’s Day on November 10, 2015, which also marks the birthdate of the United States Marine Corps.
“As a veteran Marine Corps Sgt. myself, this cause is near and dear to everyone here at Grand Trunk,” notes Jon Neff, co-founder and VP of Grand Trunk. “Our nation’s veterans rarely receive the care or recognition they deserve, and this is one small way to give back.”
Rather than just offering a discount on Veteran’s Day as a one-off promotion, Grand Trunk will extend this program in perpetuity. The brand will recognize veterans and active duty military with a dedicated landing page on its website where people can apply to receive the benefit and learn more about Grand Trunk’s commitment to our veterans. The brand will also offer worldwide APO and FPO shipping of its award winning hammocks and adventure travel gear to bring comfort to active duty military serving far away from home.
“Outdoor adventure is therapeutic and hammocks promote relaxation,” adds Kevin Kaiser, co-Founder of Grand Trunk. “We hope this program will enable veterans to get outside and recreate more readily, while inspiring other brands in the outdoor industry to act.”
The outdoor industry has long taken cues from the U.S. military when it comes to product testing and development. In this spirit, Grand Trunk recently introduced several new products as a salute and testament to the efficacy of outdoor gear developed for the military. This fall the brand added Kryptek™ high tech camouflage patterns into its line of hammocks. Kryptek™ patterns were developed for tactical users and have been tested and proven in austere combat environments with input from Special Ops and battlefield experience.
As of 2012, there are 21.8 million veterans in the United States, of whom many suffer from the physical and emotional wounds of war. Outdoor recreation is proven as an especially effective way to treat veterans and a variety of successful programs have emerged. For more information, please visit www.grandtrunk.com/heroes.
