Following Successful Beta, Outdoor Retailer's Hub Presents Updated Layout and Features
Brands building retailer-oriented microsites with video, product info and buying platform
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. - January 12, 2012 - Just in time for Winter Market 2012, Outdoor Retailer announced today that the Hub is officially out of beta phase with full functionality to help brands and buyers connect with each other in a secure, dedicated virtual commerce space.
The OR Hub provides qualified retailers with access to multiple outdoor products andbrands through a dedicated platform that hosts news updates, multimedia content and product information while integrating with companies' back-end ERP systems. The Hub is live 24/7 and runs 365 days per year in order to keep retailers in touch with manufacturers' latest technologies and brand offerings.
Attendees at next week's Winter Market, January 19-22 in Salt Lake City, will have an opportunity to get a tour through the Hub at technology partner Sparc Retail LLC's booth on the show floor (Booth #148, near the bottom of the main escalator).
"Brands and their sales reps using the Hub can choose how to interact with their buyers - whether it's using multimedia marketing to get them excited about product, or pulling them inside and integrating them into the development process," said Kenji Haroutunian, OR show director and vice president at Nielsen Expositions. "Retailers can visit the Hub as a one-stop solution for seeing emerging products, as well as interacting and placing orders with all the companies represented in their shop."
Some of the brands represented on the OR Hub include 2XU, Gore-Tex, Teva and Thule, and redesigned feeds provide retailers with product news from all participating companies along with important updates from Outdoor Retailer.
The Hub allows brands to create their own virtual portal to specifically communicate with retail buyers. The OR Hub also allows retailers and reps to communicate with brands "behind closed doors" using a range of access permissions so companies can solicit input, show off prototypes and bring their customers into any product cycle.
"The OR Hub is an incredibly cost-effective solution, whether it's a major industry heavyweight or a newer company," said Sparc Vice President of Business Development John Telfer. "If a brand came to us to build a front end for its b2b commerce site, it would cost up to five times as much. With OR Hub, Outdoor Retailer is using its position in the industry and contacts to bring a lot of eyeballs to brands' microsites through a convenient single point of entry."
The OR Hub complements Outdoor Retailer's GoExpo platform, which provides attendees and exhibitors with tools such as the online Featured Product Showcase and the Show Planner -- an online interactive tool, which buyers can use to research brands and products and pre-plan booth visits at the trade show.
