Deuter, makers of innovative, high quality, and price-competitive packs with 110 years of internationally proven experience, announces the release of its winter 2009/2010 Collection. This year, the company introduces packs for high-performance alpine pursuits that require excellent load carrying ability, gear access, and flexibility. Deuter's new designs include the low profile Freerider and Freerider Pro Series for winter backcountry sports; the lightweight Pace Series for alpine and general endurance sports; and continue with the popular Cruise and Guide Series. These products and the entire Deuter collection will be highlighted at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City. These packs will be available in outdoor and specialty stores beginning fall 2009.

According to Keith Patterson, vice president of sales and marketing for Deuter USA, “Deuter's Winter 2009/2010 collection are geared towards skiers and riders who value innovation, durability and attention to detail. We've tailored our packs for demanding conditions, as well as paid attention to weight, ergonomics, and accessibility.”

New Freerider Series Brings Best Features to Backcountry Ski, Snowboarders, and Snowshoers

Freerider
The Freerider 24 SL (women's fit/1450 cubic inch/2lbs 12oz) and Freerider 26 (standard fit/1560 cubic inches/2lbs 14oz), both $125, are designed specifically for the snowsport enthusiast who appreciates a good-looking and functional pack that fits close to the body and provides storage for extra clothing, food and supplies. The Freerider packs can hold skis, snowboards or snowshoes; plus a shovel and ice axes. The pack features a flexible, stowaway neoprene hip belt, compression straps, space for shovel and probe, removable foam pad, compression straps, hydration capability, super-beefy main compartment double-slide zippers and international S.O.S info on the inside. The women's specific SL version features female-friendly shoulder straps, harness system and a contoured fit. Both packs utilize Deuter's Alpine-Back-System. This system utilizes two padded foam stripes that provide carrying stability and comfort with "chimney" effect ventilation between the stripes.

Freerider Pro
The Freerider Pro, which includes the Freerider Pro 28 SL(women's fit/1700 cubic inch/3lbs 13oz) and Freerider Pro 30, (standard fit/1850 cubic inch/3lbs 15oz), both $149, are designed for high performance alpine pursuits that require excellent load carrying ability, gear access, and flexibility. The Freerider Pros utilize a low profile design with a full-front Hypalon panel and stretch-woven side pockets for zero snow accumulation and maximum abrasion resistance and durability. A convenient zippered back panel allows access to stowed goods even when skis/snowboard/snowshoes are attached. The Freerider Pro packs feature Deuter's Alpine Back System paired with its removable Vari-Flex hip belt. The Vari-Flex hip belt allows a pivoting motion in the hip belt to better move with the body. Features include: a fleece lined goggle pocket, a hip belt pocket and gear loop, a shovel pocket, removable foam mat, an internal shovel handle/avalanche probe sleeve, and as always, hydration system compatibility. With the Freerider Pro 28 SL, women will benefit from an ergonomically built harness and back system made specifically for them.

Pace Series - For Weight-Conscious Nordic, Randonee and Snowsports Enthusiasts

The Pace 28SL and Pace 30, both $99, are ultra-lightweight packs designed for alpine endurance with 1700-1850 cubic inches of capacity and hydration capability. In both women's-specific and standard fits, the packs feature a Delrin rod frame for basic support, as well as a mesh waist belt with zippered bellowed pocket on one side and gear loop on the other. A large front stuff-it pocket with stretch panels and stretch-woven side pockets allow easy-access storage, and shed snow and debris with ease. Side compression straps with buckles and Hypalon reinforcement, along with removable ice axe loops offer multiple and quick possibilities for carrying touring skis, poles, ice axes, and more. Bright color highlights and the reflective loop help keep users more visible; and the loop accepts a Safety Blink light for commuting and bike use. At 1 lb 14 oz, and 2 lbs, respectively, the Pace packs are an essential part of every alpine-lover's gear stash.
