Seattle, U.S.A. – Cascade Designs, Inc., the Seattle-based industry leader in the design and manufacture of premier outdoor equipment, today announced the addition of the MSR Reactor 2.5 Pot to its 2010 cookware line for use exclusively with the award-winning MSR Reactor Stove System. The new pot is larger than the 1.7 liter pot sold with the system, and expands the versatility of the stove's use.

The MSR Reactor Stove System features radical, patent-pending technology and design allowing it to boil a liter of water in about three minutes, even in challenging real-world conditions such as temperature fluctuations and wind. A radiant and convective burner allows the stove to be totally enclosed by the pot, making it virtually windproof. The burner works together with an integrated heat exchanger fused to the bottom of the pot to increase surface area and dwell time for the flame while reducing heat loss, therefore requiring less fuel overall. An internal pressure regulator equalizes fuel pressure for optimal performance in all conditions and at all fuel levels, allowing the stove to perform just as well when the canister is full as when it is near-empty.

The Reactor 2.5 Pot is sold as an accessory to the Reactor Stove System, which includes a 1.7 liter hard-anodized pot. Both the 1.7 liter pot sold with the stove and the new 2.5 liter pot can store the stove itself and a four or eight ounce MSR IsoProâ„¢ fuel canister for efficient packing, with extra room in the 2.5 liter pot for storing smaller items. The 2.5 liter pot is ideal for small groups requiring larger meals and more easily melts snow due to its traditional shape and width.

“We've had a lot of requests for other cookware options for the Reactor Stove since we released it, mostly for a larger, more traditionally shaped pot” said Drew Keegan, Stoves, Cookware and Fuel Division Director for Cascade Designs. “Since the stove and the pot work together, we had to make sure a larger pot performed as well, and we're happy to say we've achieved that. The 2.5L pot has the same boil time and efficiency for one liter of water as the current 1.7L pot does, and it only weighs 3 ounces more.”

The hard-anodized aluminum Reactor 2.5 Pot is extremely lightweight for its size, weighing only 13.8 ounces (391 grams). The pot includes an MSR Talon™ Pot Handle, BPA-Free Strainer Lid and Packtowl® stove protector. The handle and strainer lid lock in place to close the system for safe and easy packing, while the Packtowl sleeve protects the stove and pot during transport. The Reactor 2.5 Pot will be available in stores January 2010.
