EASLEY, S.C. (April 19, 2010) – The inaugural USA Freestyle Kayak (USAFK) Points Series held its first event this past weekend at the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC), and Wave Sport delivered. Three members of Team Wave Sport placed high in the standings, including a win for Bryan Kirk. As for gear, the Wave Sport Project was the winning boat in the men and women's pro divisions.

Team Wave Sport manager and reigning US Freestyle Kayak champion, Bryan Kirk, took first place in the men's pro division – earning a jaw-dropping 450 points. Bryan paddled the Wave Sport Project 52 and used an AT2 SL paddle.

Haley Mills won the women's pro division in a Wave Sport Project 45. Haley paddles
for the CKS squad. From Team Wave Sport, Elaine Campbell placed fourth, also in a Project 45; in the junior women's category, Taylor Cote took second place.

The USAFK Points Series is the first of its kind in the freestyle kayaking world. It is a series of five events, beginning with the NOC competition this past weekend and culminating with the National Championships in Missoula, Mont., June 30 – July 2, 2010. The Missoula event will also serve as the US Team Trials for the 2011 Freestyle Kayaking World Championships.

Wave Sport congratulates all of the competing athletes for pushing the limits and consistently taking the sport to a new level. The Project may make it easier, but you make it possible. Wave Sport would also like to congratulate Andrew Holcombe, from our sister brand, Dagger. Andrew pulled down a fourth place finish in the men's pro freestyle comp and a third in the Dagger Dash Attainment Race.

About Wave Sport:
Wave Sport was founded in 1986 with a dedication to all things whitewater, and that philosophy holds true today. For Wave Sport, paddling is a journey - over the course of a day, a year or a lifetime. Some journeys are destined for the chilled out fun of surfing a local, glassy wave, while the journey for others may culminate in a first descent of some remote and enormous drop. For those who believe that paddling isn't just an activity, it's a way of life, Wave Sport welcomes you to the ride. Join the Wave Sport Community at www.wavesport.com.
