North Vancouver, BC (June 20, 2016) - ARC’TERYX, the technical leader in outdoor performance apparel and equipment is proud to announce the keynote speakers, mountain films and live music lineup that will underscore the upcoming ARC’TERYX Climbing Academy, scheduled for July 14th – 17th, 2016 in beautiful Squamish, British Columbia.

Now in its second year, the popular four-day climbing event expects to draw hundreds of climbing enthusiasts from around the world to learn new skills and scale legendary Squamish routes, while also providing attendees with a host of fun-filled extra-curricular activities to complement the weekend.

The event kicks off at the O’Siem Pavilion Park in downtown Squamish on Thursday evening July 14th, with a screening of The Enchanting Triple, a climbing journey through the Stuart Range, followed by a keynote presentation by legendary free soloist Peter Croft, and a live performance by one of Canada’s most popular indie rock bands, Yukon Blonde.

“I’m super excited to attend the ARC’TERYX Climbing Academy and return to the granite of Squamish, the place where it all started for me,” said Peter Croft, master climber and early instigator of the Yosemite free soloing movement. “I’m really looking forward to catching up with old friends, making some new ones, and learning a thing or two!”

On Friday afternoon, the Sunset Speaker Series venue shifts to the elevated open air of the Sea to Sky Gondola Sun Deck for an intimate evening of presentations, films and music. International climbers, Jonathan Siegrist and Kate Rutherford will inspire with their stories of risk, failure, and success climbing around the world, then the Canadian premiere of the short film, Poumaka and live music by the Boom Booms, one of BC’s most beloved bands.

“From the expanded Sunset Speaker Series to the musical performances, from the educational seminars to the actual climbing itself, this year’s Arc’teryx Climbing Academy is rounded out with activities for everyone. There’s something fun for every interest level,” said Justin Sweeny, North American Sports Marketing Specialist for ARC’TERYX.

On Saturday, the daytime festivities relocate to the parking area beneath the StawamusChief, the granite dome towering over the town of Squamish, for the annual SAS/CASBC Trail Build, the vendor trade fair, slackline demos, yoga and more. In the evening the action moves back up the mountain to the Sea to Sky Gondola Sun Deck for Sunset Speaker presentations by ARC’TERYX athletes Paul McSorley and Ines Papert, Dave Allfrey’s Haywire and a live music set by indie band, Bear Mountain.
