SIA to keep Snow Show in January

SnowSports Industries America announced early Thursday morning it will stick with its traditional January dates for the Snow Show, instead of shifting to early December.

Late last year, SIA said it would "reinvent" the Snow Show to better align with retailers' buying season. Two shows were scheduled for 2017: one in late January, and a new, three-day show format in early December.

Thursday morning, SIA released a statement announcing that SIA President Nick Sargent and the board of directors came to a unanimous decision after meeting with members and stakeholders that it is in the best interest of the industry to keep the show in late January.

"The countless conversations I've had made it clear that a reevaluation of the schedule was necessary," Sargent said in the press release.

The new dates were chosen after "an in-depth review of all possible scenarios."

"It is our goal to make the Show accessible, accommodating, and financially feasible to everyone involved in the snow sports community," said Bob Gundram, chair of SIA's Board of Directors and CEO of C3, in the statement. "Concerns about the initial date shift, in tandem with an inconsistent snow season, made it necessary for SIA to provide a new solution."

The upcoming shows have been scheduled as follows:

2017 Snow Show: Jan. 26-29 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver; On-Snow Demo at Copper Mountain: Jan. 30-31

2018 Snow Show: Jan. 25-28 at the Colorado Convention Center; On-Snow Demo at Copper Mountain: Jan. 29-30
