Boulder, Colo., December 18, 2006 – Sea to Summit today announced their exclusive distribution agreement to paddlesport, snowsport and outdoor retailers with Stick Protection Technology (SPT) products, a fresh and innovative Australian brand that is developing the future of water and snow sports hardware. Sea to Summit is introducing SPT's Lockable Tie Downs, a unique system that combines tie-down straps with a keyed locking system to protect your gear from theft. Originally designed by a team of serious Australian surfers to transport and secure their boards from theft, the SPT Lockable Tie Downs work with any paddling/watersport, snow or cycle gear.

Combining two critical features in one streamlined locking tie-down system
…so you can spend your money on gear!

SPT was originally launched in Australia in 2005 and previewed to key retailers by Sea to Summit at the 2006 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market. “We received some very enthusiastic feedback, so we forward to a rigorous launch in 2007,” said Andrew Dunbar, co-owner of Sea to Summit.

“Our market research showed us that there were plenty of tie-down systems available and numerous anti-theft locking systems, but no really good solution for both functions in one single product. We found that SPT's straps and key lock system are streamlined rather than cumbersome. Product features blend simple and innovative benefits: security, protection, and efficiency. SPT has the only locking system that works with a long list of outdoor activities: water/paddling, snow, ski and cycling sports. Lockable Tie Downs offer outdoor athletes the efficiency of one system for their gear that won't damage it while transporting and securing it,” said Shelley Dunbar, co-owner of Sea to Summit.

The only locking strap that won't damage gear while it secures from theft

Simple and easy to use, SPT Lockable Tie Downs are designed to secure kayaks, canoes or anything you want to attach to your vehicle and protect gear from theft. These features make it unique:

• Two hardened stainless steel cables inside 33mm U.V stabilized webbing. Like a conventional strap with bomb-proof cables inside, SPT Lockable Tie Downs are virtually impossible to cut yet evenly distribute synch tension to avoid creasing or damaging fiberglass edges of boards, shells or boats.
• Soft Santoprene casing protects from moisture and corrosion
• Locked or unlocked, the extra-strength die cast buckle functions as a simple tie-down strap.
• The weather-resistant key lock with dust shutter is streamlined and easy to access.
• Sold in pairs, SPT offers three sizes to accommodate nearly any sport: 5 foot, 8 foot and 13 foot sold at $64.95, $74.95 and $84.95 MSRP.

SPT Lockable Tie Downs work with any vehicle roof rack system, cargo racks on campers, RVs, trailers or any fixed object that you might use to secure your gear at home (columns or posts on a porch or patio) if you don't have room to store your toys indoors.
