BOULDER, COLO. (November 10, 2010) – Continuing its growth as a distributor, SCARPA North America will begin distributing Ski Trab’s ski touring-oriented product line starting in Fall 2011.

The move combines North American distribution for two legendary Italian manufacturing operations under one roof, SCARPA footwear and Ski Trab skis, bindings and accessories. The move will offer North American retailers access to, as well as improved marketing and distribution support for, Ski Trab’s high quality, innovation-driven backcountry and ski-touring products.

“This is a natural partnership, because SCARPA and Ski Trab not only have a shared heritage, but each complements the other’s core capabilities and goals in the market,” said Kim Miller, CEO of SCARPA North America. “Both Ski Trab and SCARPA are the top Rando Racing brands across Europe – a sport that is still in its infancy, but is growing exponentially in North America.”

Ski Trab has been a leading innovator of ski technology since 1946 and is headquartered in Bormio, Italy, where its products continue to be manufactured. Ski Trab is known for its artisan approach to hand crafting the lightest and strongest high-performance skis. The attention to detail in every aspect of the product line makes Ski Trab one of the highest-quality ski manufacturers in the world.

Ski Trab’s worldwide ski innovations include the first production fiberglass skis (1962), the first skis with steel edges curved to fit the shape of the ski, the first carbon fiber skis (1990) and the first skis featuring an aramide honeycomb core (2004).

This new distribution arrangement also builds on SCARPA North America’s early 2009 move to open a distribution center adjacent to its offices in Boulder, Colo. In the last year, SCARPA began distributing other complementary product lines, including Rottefella and Koflach, and now adds the Ski Trab product line to the mix.
