OGDEN, Utah (Sept. 16, 2020) – Today, Salomon and REI announce a new series of virtual book club events with Salomon athletes and authors Jessie Diggins, Rickey Gates, Emelie Forsberg and Meredith Erickson. Once a month, consumers will be invited to read the monthly book and participate in an open, interactive session on Zoom with the author to discuss their work, its themes and their lives. The first session will kick off on September 17 with Olympic gold medalist Jessie Diggins, who won the United States' first ever cross-country skiing gold medal at the Winter Olympics in 2018, as she discusses her new book Brave Enough.

“This has been an incredibly challenging year for all of us, and as the weather starts to turn, never has there been a better time to curl up with one of these inspiring books, hear directly from these best-in-class athletes and head into the fall and winter seasons together,” says Jenny Taylor, the vice president of marketing for Salomon in North America. “At Salomon, we’re incredibly grateful to be able to work with so many athletes from so many different sports. Join Olympic gold medalist and Salomon athlete Jessie Diggins as she discusses her new book, Brave Enough, which looks at Jessie’s compelling journey from America’s heartland to international sports history. Diggins and her teammate won the United States' first ever cross-country skiing gold medal at the Winter Olympics in 2018. Join Salomon ultrarunner Rickey Gates as he discusses his new book, Cross Country, which details his 2017 journey to run 3,700 across the continental United States from South Carolina to San Francisco, California. Although the book delivers unparalleled insights into the extreme athletic and mental challenge of this five-month running journey, the story is more about the remarkable people across the United States who he would otherwise never meet, told through rich visual imagery, personal narratives and Rickey’s experience.

Her spectacularly photographed cookbook is a romantic ode to life in the mountains for food lovers, travelers, skiers and hikers alike, providing much-needed food inspiration as we head into the colder months.

Join Salomon athlete Emelie Forsberg as she discusses her book Sky Runner, which explores her passion for skyrunning and her accumulated expertise on how to thrive in this demanding mountain sport. Forsberg is an accomplished trail runner, ski mountaineer and outdoor athlete who has won numerous top trail races around the world. Emelie now lives in northern Norway with her husband, Kilian Jornet, and their young child on a farm where she co-founded Moon Valley Sports Nutrition, a company that makes and sells organic energy bars.
