Osprey Introduces Five Women-Specific Packs for Spring 2013

Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in designing custom-fit backpacks for women, Osprey is introducing five new women-specific packs for Spring 2013. New styles include: Xena, Viva and Kyte backpacks, and the Raven and Mira hydration packs.

Cortez, CO – July 30, 2012 – Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in designing custom-fit backpacks for women, Osprey is introducing five new women-specific packs for Spring 2013. The new styles include: Xena, Viva and Kyte backpacks, and the Raven and Mira hydration packs.

The new styles blend function, comfort and style like only Osprey can and incorporate women’s specific design features including:

Women’s BioForm4 CM™ Hipbelt. This new hipbelt is designed with thoughtful angle changes and varying padding thickness to create a women-specific fit for comfortable load transfer and optimal support. A narrower cut ensures that the belt doesn’t dig into the ribs or upper thighs when scrambling or climbing.

Shoulder Harness. The shoulder harness is designed to fit a woman’s neck, shoulders and chest through its cut and varying thickness of padding.

Pack Shape. The women’s packs are narrower and have added depth in the right places. This design allows greater freedom of movement and increased stabilization by lowering the center of gravity. As a result, the load is more proportionately supported on the hips and along the structure of the back.

“We are proud to expand our offerings of women-specific packs so women can explore the outdoors in even greater comfort,” said Cassie Tweed, product designer at Osprey. “ Our women’s specific packs are engineered with design features to ensure the best fit for female frames.”

New Series

XENA – deluxe, customized fit backpack

For women carrying large loads on extended trips, load carrying ability and comfort are clearly the paramount concern. The new Xena packs are designed with those requirements in mind.

The gender-specific packs include a more robust version of the proven LightWire™ peripheral frame suspension for optimal load transfer, while the all-new BioForm4 CM™ hipbelt and harness provide a supportive and highly customizable fit. This innovative new hipbelt technology builds on the Osprey reputation for outstanding fit and comfort. Specially trained staff at CM™ certified dealers will use an Osprey oven to custom mold the hipbelt for each individual customer to deliver a precise, personalized fit, superior comfort, load control and long-lasting support.

Organization and access are two more key elements to making life on the trail easier. These packs offer superb pocketing and multiple zip access points into the main compartment. Plus, Xena features a super-convenient way to carry a reservoir. The new external hydration sleeve in the backpanel simplifies refilling and protects the pack’s contents from spills.

Osprey Packs

Independent since 1974 and anchored by the design genius of company founder and owner, Mike Pfotenhauer, Osprey Packs has long set the standard for creating innovative, high quality gear carrying equipment. The collection includes packs and bags designed to help adventurers enjoy their outdoor, biking and travel pursuits.

The location of company headquarters in Cortez, Colorado, near the rugged San Juan Mountains on the edge of desert canyon country, provides a constant inspiration and a superb testing ground for Osprey products. In 2009, Osprey opened a design office in Mill Valley, California, a hub of design talent and the birthplace of mountain biking. All three of these offices play a crucial role in creating Osprey gear that lasts a lifetime.

To celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2009, Osprey launched the All Mighty Guarantee, an enhancement of a lifetime warranty that was already one of the most robust in the industry.
