Nordic Pocket Saw Taps North American Market

Swedish developed pocket saw to be distributed exclusively in the U.S. and Canada by Sport Hansa

Västra Frölunda, Sweden – (October 26, 2016)Nordic Pocket Saw, the ultimate manual chainsaw for outdoor enthusiasts, is proud to introduce its pocket sized saw to the U.S. market. Sport Hansa will handle sales and distribution in the U.S. and Canada, available Fall 2016.

Launched in Sweden in August 2015, Nordic Pocket Saw puts raw cutting power into the hands of outdoor enthusiasts. Sparked by consumer demand for human powered hand tools, the Swedish brand enters the North American market and answers the call for a powerful yet packable saw for wilderness and the outdoors.

Unlike axes or traditional handsaws, Nordic Pocket Saw’s lightweight, flexible chain design fits easily in a pack or can be worn on a belt, allowing ease of use in difficult or backcountry terrain. The design features high-carbon cutting teeth on each chain link, allowing faster cuts in both directions, which takes less effort and reduces fatigue.

“Nordic Pocket Saw is developed for the harsh conditions and variable terrain found in Sweden,” says Oscar Strindhagen, managing director of Del Torri AB. “Bringing our design to the U.S. and Canadian markets is the next logical step, but requires the right partner. Given their experience working with niche, Scandinavian brands, Sport Hansa is a natural fit and we’re excited to work together.”

Over the last few years the U.S. has seen resurgence in self-reliance, overland and backcountry enthusiasts seeking traditional ways to interact with the land. Hand tools designed and developed based on usage in harsh conditions, like Scandinavian axes and knives, are continuing to grow in popularity among the general outdoor consumer.

“Our retailers seek authentic, purpose driven products that are user-friendly by design and relevant to the needs of the consumer,” says Matt Huff, managing director of Sport Hansa. “The functionality of the design and high quality construction make the Nordic Pocket Saw an ideal choice for discerning outdoor enthusiasts.”

Sport Hansa will show Nordic Pocket Saw at Grassroots CONNECT in Knoxville, Tenn., Nov. 9-11, and Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City Utah, Jan. 7-10, 2017.
