Newton Running, the leading natural running footwear brand, is fielding an impressive team of runners for the 2010 Badwater Ultramarathon on July 12th-14th, 2010. Team Newton for Badwater includes legendary ultrarunner Pam Reed, 7-time adventure racing world champion Ian Adamson, and experienced Badwater competitor Jim Smith.
“Badwater, with its 100+ temperatures and 13,000' of elevation gain, is one of the toughest tests of both runners and their shoes,†states Ian Adamson, Newton Running's director of research and education, who will be running Badwater for the first time. “With her 7th place overall finish last year and two Badwater wins under her belt, Pam Reed has already proven that Newtons can handle to rigors of Badwater.â€
Pam Reed's accomplishments are numerous—in addition to winning Badwater twice (2002 and 2003) she is the American female record holder for the 490 miles she ran around a track over six days at the Self-Transcendence race in Flushing Meadows, NYC.
Adamson has joined Racers Against Childhood Cancer and is collecting pledges in order to fund research and financially support kids in their fight against cancer. He has set his fundraising goal at $10,000 and is collecting pledges here.
