SEATTLE, Wash. (May 21, 2019) – For the second year in a row, Mountain Safety Research (MSR®) is supporting BACKPACKER Magazine’s Get Out More Tour as the exclusive stove category sponsor. The tour will once again travel around the nation with the aim of uniting readers and outdoor enthusiasts with trail-tested tips, regional trip advice and outdoor gear.

The Tour has 48 official stops across the country, at both retail locations and local music and outdoor festivals. MSR will provide attendees with education around stove safety and repair in the backcountry and the opportunity to learn about MSR’s wide variety of stoves. This year, the brand new PocketRocket Deluxe stove will be on display, as well as other MSR stoves.

The PocketRocket Deluxe is a feature-packed new version of its predecessor, the thru-hiker favorite PocketRocket 2. The Deluxe features a push-start ignition, pressure regulator, and broader burner for improved wind resistance – all for just 2.9 ounces.

“We love that the Get Out More Tour prepares backpackers with all the information they need to enjoy the outdoors,” says Scott Youmans, Stoves and Cookware Category Manager at MSR. “From product knowledge to backcountry safety, BACKPACKER’s Get Out More Tour is a great resource to prepare attendees for outdoor experiences.”

The goal of the BACKPACKER Get Out More Tour is to unite readers and outdoor enthusiasts to get outside, share experiences, eliminate misconceptions, identify challenges, and offer solutions to enhance experiences.

“I’m so excited to take MSR stoves on the road and trail with BACKPACKER Magazine’s Get Out More Tour again in 2019,” says Randy Propster, BACKPACKER Brand Ambassador. “As the host of this tour, I love knowing that I can enhance outdoor enthusiasts’ experiences with time-tested tips and techniques. Whether they’re looking to boil, cook, or simmer, I’m confident that their choice will lead to on-trail success with an MSR stove.”

Each Tour stop provides the opportunity to win a large outdoor gear and apparel giveaway prize from the Tour sponsors. The Tour’s first stop was at The Local Hiker store in Spartanburg, South Carolina on May 9th, and will continue into November with its final stop in Pinellas Park, Florida.
